Working Principle of Bursting Strength Tester
The Bursting Strength Tester operates on the hydrostatic pressure principle to measure the bursting strength of paper and packaging materials. The specimen is positioned between two clamps and secured firmly to ensure stable testing conditions.
During testing, a neoprene rubber diaphragm applies pressure to the specimen, with glycerine beneath the rubber acting as the pressure-transmitting medium. As the pressure increases, the specimen eventually bursts. The instrument records the maximum pressure reached and displays the result on its indicator.
Bursting strength is expressed in kg/cm². The bursting factor is calculated using the following formula:
