Drop Tester is a precision testing instrument designed to replicate real-life drop conditions and evaluate the impact resistance and durability of packaging materials. This instrument is widely used for testing materials such as corrugated boxes, plastic bottles, and various automotive components to assess their ability to withstand impacts during handling, storage, and transportation.
Testronix Instruments offers Drop Testing solutions designed for packaging and material testing applications in India.
Overview of Drop Tester
A Drop Tester is an essential testing instrument used to evaluate the impact resistance and durability of packaging materials. It helps manufacturers determine how effectively packaging can withstand accidental drops, impacts, and shocks during handling, storage, and transportation.
The testing process provides valuable insights into the strength and protective capabilities of packaging materials, helping manufacturers identify potential weaknesses and improve product safety.
Designed for packaging impact testing in accordance with applicable BIS 9755:2021 requirements, the Drop Tester helps laboratories and manufacturers perform consistent and reliable evaluations of packaging performance.
Working Principle of Drop Tester
The Drop Tester works on the principle of free-fall impact testing to evaluate the ability of packaging materials to withstand sudden impacts.
The testing process begins by placing the sample securely on the machine’s designated testing platform. A weighted impact mechanism is positioned at a predetermined height and then released to fall freely onto the sample.
The drop height and impact conditions can be adjusted according to the testing requirements, allowing different impact scenarios to be simulated.
When the impact mechanism strikes the sample, the packaging material experiences sudden force. The resulting damage, deformation, or structural changes are observed and evaluated to determine its impact resistance.
This testing method helps manufacturers understand how packaging materials perform under real-world handling and transportation conditions. It also supports quality control by helping identify packaging materials that provide adequate protection to products.
